A team of senior officials led by Government Advisor Sudarshan Reddy inspected several flood-affected areas across Hyderabad to assess the reasons behind recent waterlogging and review preventive measures.
The team included DGP C.V. Anand, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, CMC Commissioner Srujana, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Ramesh Reddy, irrigation engineers, municipal officials, and revenue department officials.
The team first visited Malkam Cheruvu in Raidurg, where officials reviewed the causes of flooding and discussed possible solutions. Officials stated that reducing the water level in the lake could help control flooding. HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath explained that heavy silt accumulation near inlets was restricting the smooth flow of rainwater into the lake.
The officials later inspected Khajaguda Lake, reviewing desilting works at the inlets and widening of channels to ensure proper flow of floodwater into the lake.
At Durgam Cheruvu in Madhapur, the team examined the inlets and outlets and observed that excess water flow was not reaching the lake smoothly due to blockages. Officials highlighted the need to improve outlet capacity and ensure proper diversion of stormwater.
The team also inspected flood-affected areas near Vitthal Rao Nagar, Kondapur Santosh Dhaba, and other locations where desilting and flood channel improvement works are being carried out.

At Gurunath Cheruvu in Miyapur, officials reviewed the restoration of flood channels by HYDRAA, including removal of encroachments and reopening of blocked water pathways. HYDRAA officials stated that maintaining proper lake inlets and outlets is essential to prevent flooding.
The team also inspected Gangaram Lake in Chandanagar, where officials noted that silted inlets were causing waterlogging on the main road. Sudarshan Reddy instructed officials to immediately clear blocked drains and complete necessary works.
Sudarshan Reddy said that major flood-prone areas were inspected and resolving these issues would significantly reduce flooding problems. DGP C.V. Anand directed officials to take police assistance wherever required and emphasized that all departments must work together to control floods and avoid traffic disruptions.
