CityLightBuzz: On the occasion of the 376th birth anniversary celebrations of Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud, the song “Ellamma” from the upcoming film Sardar Sarvai Papanna – The Rebel King of Deccan was grandly released by Secunderabad MLA T. Padma Rao Goud.
The event was attended by prominent producer and film distributor and RK Films head Dr. Prathani Ramakrishna Goud, along with Satyanarayana Goud, Nandi Award-winning producer Deepak Nyathi, and other members of the film industry. Speaking on the occasion, MLA T. Padma Rao Goud described Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud as a great people’s warrior and a source of inspiration for the weaker and oppressed sections of society. He said Papanna fought against injustice, oppression and excessive taxation and earned a unique place in history as a revolutionary warrior, people’s leader and independent ruler.He noted that Papanna conquered and built several forts and worked for the welfare of the people by developing water resources such as tanks and ponds. Historical traditions also associate Papanna with the worship of village deities such as Ellamma and Maisamma, giving the “Ellamma” song special significance in the film.The speakers said that the inspiring history of Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud, a contemporary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Sambhaji Maharaj, should reach today’s younger generation.The film is directed and produced by Venkatesh Goud Lingampalli, who has undertaken the responsibility of bringing Papanna’s heroic life story to the screen. Sardar Sarvai Papanna – The Rebel King of Deccan* is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 21. The makers expressed confidence that the film will introduce the inspiring history of the legendary Telangana warrior to audiences across the world.
