CityLightBuzz: London, August 2026: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy led the official Telangana Rising delegation to the Senate House of the University of London for a high-level roundtable discussion focused on education, global academic partnerships and the proposed establishment of a University of London campus in .Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, along with senior officials K. Ramakrishna Rao and Jayesh Ranjan, participated in discussions with representatives of the University of London and its academic institutions.
The delegation included representatives from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and other institutions within the University of London academic federation.
University of London Campus in Hyderabad
A key focus of the discussions was the University of London’s plans to explore establishing a campus in Hyderabad. The proposed initiative is expected to create opportunities for students to access internationally recognised academic programmes across multiple disciplines.
The University of London federation brings together a range of institutions and academic schools, offering programmes across areas such as economics, social sciences, business, international studies, humanities and other disciplines.
The proposed Hyderabad presence could further strengthen Telangana’s position as an emerging education, technology and innovation hub, while creating greater opportunities for international academic collaboration.
Academic Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange
The roundtable also provided an opportunity to discuss potential collaboration between Telangana and leading UK academic institutions. Areas of interest include higher education, research, innovation, skills development, knowledge exchange and industry-academia partnerships.
The participation of institutions such as LSE and SOAS highlighted the potential for broader academic engagement between Telangana and the United Kingdom.
The University of London team included Ms. Kavita R, Ruth Kattumuri of LSE, Paul Madden, Prof. Funmi Olonifakin, Dr. Sky Zheng and Keith Harrison.
The discussions are part of Telangana’s broader Telangana Rising vision to attract global institutions, strengthen international partnerships and build Hyderabad as a globally competitive destination for education, technology, research and innovation.
The proposed University of London campus could add another major international academic institution to Hyderabad’s rapidly expanding higher education ecosystem.
