CityLightBuzz: Former Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy Accuses Congress of Failing All Sections of Telangana
Hyderabad: Former Telangana Minister and BRS leader Singireddy Niranjan Reddy criticised the Congress government, alleging that people from all sections of society have suffered due to what he described as the party’s failure to fulfil its election promises.
Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Niranjan Reddy said the Congress government would complete 1,000 days in office by September 2 and alleged that no other government in the country had “humiliated the people” to such an extent.
He said Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, had made several promises to different sections of society during the elections through various declarations and manifestos.
According to Niranjan Reddy, when questions were raised about how the government would mobilise resources to implement the promises, Congress leaders had assured people that the party had more than a century of experience and would fulfil its commitments.
He alleged that the Congress leaders had not cited the previous BRS government’s borrowings as a reason for being unable to implement the promises during the election campaign, but were now using the state’s financial position as an excuse.
BRS Announces Eight-Day Protest Programme
Niranjan Reddy announced that the BRS would launch a series of protest programmes from September 2 to September 8 to highlight what the party described as the Congress government’s failure to implement its election promises.
He said the programme would begin with the unveiling of a chargesheet against the government at Telangana Bhavan on September 1, along with the launch of a special logo.
September 2: Protests at Constituency Headquarters
On September 2, BRS leaders and workers will organise dharnas at constituency headquarters.
The party will also display what it calls “Bakki Cards” (promise cards) and conduct rallies featuring a 420-foot flexi highlighting the alleged failure to implement the party’s “420 promises”.
September 3: Farmers’ Conferences and 22A Land Protests
On September 3, farmers’ conferences will be organised focusing on issues including:
Agriculture, Irrigation, Electricity, Urea supply, Rythu Bima, Farmers’ welfare
Niranjan Reddy also announced protests in Hyderabad and other towns over the issue of 22A prohibited lands.
September 4: Programmes for Women, Elderly and Persons with Disabilities
On September 4, the BRS will conduct meetings involving senior citizens, persons with disabilities and women.
The party will also organise “Vanta Varpu” programmes, a traditional form of public protest involving collective cooking.
