Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices have been increased once again, giving a fresh shock to vehicle owners and commercial transport operators.
CNG Prices Hiked AgainIndraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has increased the price of CNG by ₹3.89 per kg in the Delhi-NCR region. The revised prices came into effect from 6:00 AM on August 29, 2026.
New CNG Prices
Delhi: ₹83.09 → ₹86.98 per kg
Noida: ₹95.59 per kg
Ghaziabad: ₹95.59 per kg
Gurugram: ₹92.01 per kg
Meerut: ₹95.47 per kg
Why Has CNG Become More Expensive?
According to IGL, the price hike is mainly due to a significant increase in international LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) prices.
The ongoing West Asia crisis has disrupted LNG shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, pushing up global gas prices. Increased demand for imported spot LNG has also raised input costs for gas distributors.
IGL said the price revision was necessary to partly offset the rising cost of procuring gas while meeting increasing CNG demand.
Fifth CNG Price Hike This Year
The latest ₹3.89 per kg increase is reportedly the fifth CNG price hike this year. With the latest revision, CNG prices in Delhi have increased by around ₹10 per kg compared with the beginning of the year.
Impact on Consumers
The increase is expected to raise fuel expenses for auto-rickshaws, taxis, cabs, public transport vehicles and commercial fleets. Higher operating costs could also put pressure on transportation and taxi fares.
