Hyderabad Steps Up Dengue Fight with Massive Awareness Drive on National Dengue Day 2026
On the occasion of National Dengue Day (NDD) 2026, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) launched widespread awareness campaigns across Hyderabad under the theme “Unite. Act. Eliminate.”, mobilizing health teams and citizens to combat dengue and other vector-borne diseases.

On the occasion of National Dengue Day (NDD) 2026 with the theme “Unite. Act. Eliminate.”, GHMC Entomology Teams, Senior Entomologists, Medical Officers, health staff and field teams across various circles conducted extensive awareness activities including rallies, distribution of pamphlets, IEC campaigns and public sensitization programmes to prevent Dengue and other vector-borne diseases.
Dengue continues to be a major public health concern, especially during monsoon and post-monsoon seasons. Rapid urbanization, water stagnation, inadequate waste management and changing climatic conditions contribute to the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes responsible for transmission of Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika.
The awareness campaign focused on:
✅ Elimination of mosquito breeding sources
✅ Covering stored water containers
✅ Preventing water stagnation
✅ Promoting personal protection against mosquito bites
✅ Community participation in source reduction activities
IEC materials including banners, posters and pamphlets were displayed and awareness was spread through rallies, media outreach and community interaction programmes.
Together, through awareness and coordinated action, we can build a Dengue-free Hyderabad.
