CityLightBuzz: Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary Shri Sanjay Jaju, IAS, reviewed arrangements for the upcoming Vaanakalam (Kharif) 2026–27 paddy procurement season at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat in Hyderabad.
The review meeting was attended by senior officials from various departments. The Chief Secretary directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination to ensure that farmers do not face difficulties during the procurement process.
Key Directions
The Chief Secretary emphasized the following measures:
Smooth transportation and timely lifting of paddy from procurement centres.
Availability of adequate hamalis (loading/unloading workers) and sufficient storage facilities.
Ensuring transparent and hassle-free procurement for farmers.
Making prompt payments to farmers after procurement.
Ensuring unique identification of every farmer participating in the procurement process.
Completing Aadhaar linkage with farmers’ bank accounts to facilitate timely and accurate payments.
Learning from the previous procurement seasons and addressing shortcomings to prevent inconvenience at procurement centres.
Sanjay Jaju stressed that effective coordination between departments is essential for the smooth functioning of procurement centres across the state. He directed officials to ensure that necessary infrastructure, manpower, transportation and storage arrangements are in place well in advance.
The government’s focus will be on making the Vaanakalam 2026–27 paddy procurement process farmer-friendly, transparent and efficient, while ensuring that farmers receive timely payment for their produce.
