This Is Not the Original Congress; It Is a Congress Influenced by TDP and RSS Ideologies,’ He Alleges
Hyderabad: In a significant political development, senior Congress leader from Adilabad district and former NSUI Telangana State President Bhargav Deshpande joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Sunday after resigning from the Congress party.
The induction ceremony took place at the Hyderabad residence of BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), who welcomed Deshpande into the party by presenting him with the BRS pink scarf. Former ministers, legislators and senior BRS leaders attended the event.
Following his induction, Deshpande launched a sharp attack on the Telangana Congress leadership, alleging that the party had moved away from its original ideology and was operating under the influence of leaders associated with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP.
‘Leave Congress, Save Telangana’
Deshpande said he had been associated with the Congress since 2006 but claimed that the party’s present functioning was significantly different from what it had been in the past.
Describing the current Telangana Congress as different from the original Congress, he alleged that the party had been influenced by TDP and RSS ideologies. He appealed to Congress leaders and supporters with the slogan, “Leave Congress, Save Telangana.”
Targets Telangana Congress Leadership
Criticising the state leadership, Deshpande alleged that senior leaders Uttam Kumar Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka and Duddilla Sridhar Babu had surrendered politically to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He also claimed that there was a contradiction between the positions articulated by Rahul Gandhi in Delhi and the functioning of the Congress government in Telangana.
Questioning the argument that Revanth Reddy alone was responsible for the Congress party’s electoral victory, Deshpande asked why the Chief Minister had not been able to bring the TDP to power during his earlier political association with the party.
He further alleged that only a small group of leaders close to the Chief Minister was benefiting from the present administration, while others were being sidelined.
BRS Leaders Attend Joining Ceremony
The joining programme was attended by former minister and MLA Vemula Prashanth Reddy, former minister Jogu Ramanna, MLC Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, MLAs Kova Laxmi and Anil Jadhav, former MLA Balka Suman, Khanapur constituency in-charge Johnson Naik and other BRS leaders.
Bhargav Deshpande’s entry into the BRS comes amid continuing political exchanges between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS in Telangana.
