Key Decisions and Policy Approvals by the Telangana State Cabinet

The State Cabinet has approved the sanctioning of the second phase of Indiramma houses in the state. The cabinet approved the construction of Indiramma houses for a total of 2,50,000 poor families. It has decided to sanction 2,000 houses per constituency.

The State Cabinet also decided to complete the Indiramma houses whose construction began during the Congress government in the undivided state but stalled at the wall or slab stages. We will provide Rs. 3 lakhs for houses where foundations are completed but walls and slabs are pending, and Rs. 2 lakhs for houses where walls are completed but slabs are pending. The cabinet resolved to allocate funds to complete 500 incomplete Indiramma houses per constituency.

  • Housewarming ceremonies for about one lakh Indiramma houses, whose construction began in the first phase, will take place by June 2nd. We have decided to inaugurate 28 Indiramma houses built by the government for Kolam Adivasis in Kothari village, Kerameri mandal, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district on June 1st. Honorable Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Honorable Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and all state ministers will visit and participate in this program on June 1st.

  • The State Cabinet has decided to construct and provide one lakh houses for Low Income Groups (LIG) across 24 constituencies within the Hyderabad Metropolitan core area.

  • Based on various surveys conducted in Telangana state in different phases, the government identified that 15,000 families are living in huts. The state cabinet resolved to immediately issue Indiramma housing sanction letters to all those families. The cabinet decided to position Telangana as an ideal, hut-free state.

  • The State Cabinet approved an allocation of Rs. 1000 crore to undertake various works related to the Godavari Pushkaralu, scheduled to be held from June 26 to July 7 next year. Out of this, the cabinet approved the sanction of Rs. 300 crore for the first phase.

  • The state cabinet approved the proposals prepared by Telangana DISCOMs to join the RDSS (Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme) implemented by the Central Government for power distribution and infrastructure development.

  • The state cabinet approved the implementation of the mid-day meal scheme in all junior colleges across the state. The government decided to provide morning breakfast and milk to students in all junior colleges, along with schools.

  • The state cabinet decided to merge the DCMSs in the state into Markfed. The cabinet also decided to merge TGRIC (Telangana Rural Infrastructure Corporation) into HACA.

  • The state cabinet approved the allocation of Rs. 587 crores for land acquisition, rehabilitation, and infrastructure development of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme.

  • The state government’s goal is to position Telangana as one of the top 5 life sciences hubs in the world by 2030. Hence, the state cabinet approved the “Next Generation Life Sciences Policy 2026–30”. We formally unveiled this policy in Davos.

  • Through this policy, we aim to create 5 lakh jobs and attract $25 billion in investments over the next five years.

  • We will make the state a destination for massive investments in the Life Sciences, Pharma, Biotech, and Medical Innovation sectors. We will provide excellent opportunities for the youth in research, manufacturing, digital health, and global innovation.

  • While the focus has largely been on manufacturing so far, moving forward, we will place a greater focus on high-value innovation.

  • We are introducing a change in this policy to recognize Research and Development (R&D) units as industries.

  • This policy will be useful in bringing Global Capability Centers and Global Innovation Centers to Telangana.
