The Route: CM Revanth Reddy was returning to Hyderabad after concluding an official visit to Delhi. He boarded an IndiGo flight that departed Delhi around 6:30 PM.
The Cause: As the flight approached Hyderabad, severe weather hit the region. Heavy torrential downpours caused major disruptions across several areas of Hyderabad (including Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, and Miyaur).
Air Traffic Control Action: Due to the poor visibility and unsafe weather conditions at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (Shamshabad), the Air Traffic Control (ATC) denied permission for the aircraft to land.
Safe Landing: After circling in the airspace for a short period waiting for conditions to improve, the pilot diverted the aircraft to Bengaluru. The flight landed safely at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru around 10:00 PM.
Current Plan: Following the safe landing, the Chief Minister stayed overnight in Bengaluru and planned to return to Hyderabad the following morning once the weather cleared.
