Rakta Charitra’ Is One of the Most Special Films of My Career: Ram Gopal Varma

FLASH NEWS LIFE STYLE MOVIES POLITICAL

Acclaimed filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) described Rakta Charitra as one of the most special films of his career during the film’s re-release press meet held at Prasad Labs in Hyderabad.

Based on real-life incidents of Rayalaseema factionalism, Rakta Charitra, starring Vivek Oberoi, Suriya, Radhika Apte, and Priyamani, was originally released in 2010 and emerged as a major success. After 16 years, the film is being re-released by Tripura Creations head Murali Krishna Vankayalapati, in association with Natti’s Entertainment and Quitty Entertainments, represented by producer Natti Kumar.

Speaking at the event, Ram Gopal Varma said, “Rakta Charitra was made after extensive research into the real-life incidents and characters associated with Rayalaseema factionalism. It is one of the most special films in my career. The film explores the contrast between peace and war while portraying the devastating consequences of violence.”No Possibility of ‘Rakta Charitra Part 3’

When asked about the possibility of making Rakta Charitra Part 3, Varma replied humorously, “There is no scope for Part 3 because almost everyone died by the end of Part 2. No one is left. The people around today don’t have that kind of story.”Responding to a question about whether re-releasing the film might revive factional sentiments in Rayalaseema, Varma said that times have changed.“Today, people may fight on social media with words, but very few have the courage to confront each other physically like before,” he remarked.

Star Dominance Is Natural Addressing the changing dynamics of the film industry, Varma dismissed concerns about increasing star dominance. “There is nothing wrong with star dominance. Audiences buy tickets to watch stars, and they drive the business worth crores. Naturally, stars enjoy greater influence. What matters is whether a director has the ability to convince the star and execute the film effectively,” he explained.

“I Will Never Make Family Sentiment or Mythological Films”

Varma also shared his filmmaking preferences, stating that he has no interest in directing family-oriented or mythological films. “I will never make family sentiment films. Every member of a family watches a film differently, so that genre doesn’t excite me. As for mythological films, they require massive costumes, extensive graphics, and VFX, and I don’t have the patience for that. I prefer making realistic dramas,” he said. He also revealed that he is currently based in Mumbai, working on a Hindi film centered around police officers. Producers on the Re-release

Producers Natti Kumar and Murali Krishna Vankayalapati said Rakta Charitra realistically portrayed the violent factional conflicts that once gripped Rayalaseema and became a blockbuster upon its original release. They said the film is being re-released to introduce its powerful story to a new generation of audiences. The makers are planning a wide theatrical release across the highest possible number of screens, with advance ticket bookings opening at 4:00 PM on Saturday.
