Vanajeevi Ramaiah’ to Be Made as a Pan-India Feature Film | Vanajeevi Haritha Awards Held in Hyderabad

 The Vanajeevi Haritha Awards ceremony was organized in the presence of the team of the short film ‘Vanajeevi Ramaiah’, under the aegis of the Vasvik Foundation, to commemorate the 90th birth anniversary of renowned environmentalist and Padma Shri awardee Vanajeevi Daripalli Ramaiah, popularly known across the country as the “Man Who Planted Crores of Trees.”

The event was held at Prasad Labs, Hyderabad, where several environmental activists and volunteers who have made significant contributions to environmental conservation were honoured with the Vanajeevi Awards. On the occasion, producer Nidigonda Naresh Prajapathi urged the Telangana Government to name village nature forests after Vanajeevi Ramaiah and announced that the short film ‘Vanajeevi Ramaiah’ will soon be developed into a Pan-India feature film.

The event was led by Vasvik Group Chairman and film producer Nidigonda Naresh Prajapathi, Vasvik Foundation Vice Chairman Nookala Bhaskar Reddy, and director Vemuganti. Environmental activist Mokkala Venkatayya was felicitated, while several individuals dedicated to tree plantation and environmental protection received the prestigious Vanajeevi Awards.

The short film ‘Vanajeevi Ramaiah’, based on the inspiring life of environmental crusader Daripalli Ramaiah, has already earned recognition by being selected in the Best Short Film category at the prestigious Gaddar Awards presented by the Government of Telangana. The film features Brahmaji in the title role and is directed by Nandi Award-winning director Vemuganti. It is produced by Nidigonda Naresh Kumar Prajapathi, with a story by Dr. Kala Ranga and music composed by Ballepalli Mohan.

Speaking at the event, environmental activists Mokkala Satyanarayana and Mokkala Venkatayya urged everyone to actively participate in protecting nature. They emphasized that trees are the lifeline of humanity and encouraged every family to plant and nurture at least a few saplings, praising Vanajeevi Ramaiah as an inspiration for future generations.

Producer Nidigonda Naresh Prajapathi said,
“Vanajeevi Ramaiah was a visionary who foresaw the challenges of water scarcity and environmental degradation nearly five decades ago and worked tirelessly to create awareness among people. To carry forward his mission, we will undertake a statewide tree plantation campaign. Every citizen should plant trees and leave behind a greener future for coming generations. We also request the Telangana Government to name village nature forests after Vanajeevi Ramaiah. Moreover, we are expanding the short film into a full-fledged Pan-India feature film.”

Director Vemuganti said,
“Vanajeevi Ramaiah dedicated nearly seven decades of his life to protecting nature. Future generations should never forget his remarkable service. We made this film to ensure that his life and message reach every section of society. We hope the film inspires greater awareness about environmental conservation.”

Actress Nagarani said,
“It is an honour to be part of such a meaningful film carrying a strong social message. More films like this should be made for the betterment of society. I sincerely thank the director and producer for giving me this opportunity.”

Music Director Ballepalli Mohan said,
“Providing music for a film based on the life of Vanajeevi Ramaiah, who dedicated his entire life to planting millions of trees and protecting nature, is one of the proudest moments of my career. Director Vemuganti has portrayed his life beautifully, while the producers have made every effort to deliver this important message without compromise. I believe this film will inspire everyone to think seriously about protecting the environment.”

The event witnessed the participation of Vasvik Foundation members including Nookala Narasimha Reddy, Music Director Mallik Teja, ex-servicemen Venkata Appa Rao, retired Singareni GM Viswanath, Vinay Reddy, Mahendra Varma, Naveen, along with social workers, literary personalities, environmentalists, representatives of voluntary organizations, and several supporters who pledged to continue Vanajeevi Daripalli Ramaiah’s mission of environmental conservation.
