
CityLightBuzz: Bhogapuram, Andhra Pradesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, marking a historic milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s aviation and infrastructure development. The world-class greenfield airport is expected to transform connectivity, promote tourism, attract investments, and accelerate economic growth across the state.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Minister Nara Lokesh, several Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs, senior government officials, industry leaders, and representatives from the aviation sector.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the airport reflects India’s rapid infrastructure transformation and the government’s commitment to strengthening regional connectivity. He noted that the project would significantly improve passenger convenience while creating new opportunities in tourism, trade, logistics, business, and employment.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described the airport as a game-changing infrastructure project that would drive the state’s long-term economic development. He said the airport would position Andhra Pradesh as a major investment and logistics hub on India’s eastern coast while generating thousands of employment
opportunities.The airport has been built with state-of-the-art infrastructure and advanced technologies, ensuring a seamless and world-class travel experience for passengers. The terminal showcases the rich cultural heritage and artistic traditions of Andhra Pradesh, blending modern architecture with the state’s unique identity.
Named after legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju, the airport stands as a tribute to his courage and sacrifice while symbolizing Andhra Pradesh’s aspirations for a progressive and prosperous future.
The new international airport is expected to significantly improve domestic and international connectivity for the North Coastal Andhra region, benefiting Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, and neighboring districts.
