CityLightBuzz: Actress Chaminda Varma, who is making her debut as the female lead in the upcoming film Hreem, says that acting has always been her childhood dream. Speaking on the occasion of her birthday, the actress shared her inspiring journey from being a medical professional to pursuing a career in cinema.
I always dreamed of becoming an actress and entering the colorful world of cinema. My parents were very supportive of my passion, but they insisted that I complete my medical education before stepping into films. Respecting their wishes, I completed my MBBS before pursuing my acting career,” she said. Born and raised in Dubai, Chaminda completed her entire education there. After earning her medical degree, she also began practicing as a doctor. However, when the opportunity to act in films came her way, she decided to follow her lifelong dream and moved to India.
I was thrilled when I received the opportunity to play the lead role in Hreem. It is a wonderful platform for me to prove myself as an actress. My debut itself features a challenging role with three different character variations, making the experience both exciting and demanding. I hope audiences will watch the film and appreciate
my performance,” she added.Apart from acting, Chaminda has also undergone professional dance training, which she believes has helped her develop confidence and improve her performance skills in front of the camera.
Following the completion of Hreem, Chaminda has appeared in nearly 15 advertising commercials, an experience she says has greatly enriched her as a performer and given her immense satisfaction.
