Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) General Secretary Dr. R.S. Praveen Kumar launched a sharp attack on the Congress government during a press conference held at Telangana Bhavan, condemning the remarks made by Congress leaders regarding alleged “black magic” (Kshudra Pujas) and BRS MLA T. Harish Rao.
Dr. Praveen Kumar said Telangana was achieved through the sacrifices of nearly 1,300 martyrs and alleged that Congress leaders were insulting the state’s cultural and spiritual values through irresponsible statements.
He criticized Congress leaders, including Addanki Dayakar, Sama Ram Mohan Reddy, and Mahesh Kumar Goud, for making what he described as baseless allegations against Harish Rao. He demanded that Congress leaders issue an unconditional apology to the Hindu community, stating that their remarks had hurt the sentiments of devotees and followers of Hindu traditions.
Declaring himself a devotee of Lord Shiva, Dr. Praveen Kumar said visiting temples and offering prayers is a constitutional right and that Harish Rao is free to visit any temple of his choice as it is a personal matter.
He alleged that the Congress leadership was indulging in political drama by raising the issue of “black magic” and questioned why they were targeting devotees visiting temples such as Ujjaini Mahankali, Balkampet Yellamma, and Medaram.
The BRS leader also warned that if Congress leaders failed to apologize, they would have to face serious political consequences. He said legal notices issued by Harish Rao should be answered appropriately.
Dr. Praveen Kumar further alleged that Congress leaders were following a script prepared by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Congress strategist Sunil Kanugolu, accusing the ruling party of diverting public attention from governance issues.
He also questioned the silence of the BJP over the controversy and made several political allegations against both the Congress and BJP during the press conference.
The press meet was attended by Dr. Errolla Srinivas, K. Kishore Goud, Gosula Srinivas Yadav, Abhilash Rangineni, Kalwakurthy Srinivas Yadav, Ibrahim, and other BRS leaders.
