CityLightBuzz: New Delhi, A high-level review meeting was held with senior officials of the Ministry of Coal to assess the progress of coal production, dispatch operations, and the implementation of key infrastructure projects across the country. The meeting focused on improving operational efficiency, accelerating project execution, and ensuring uninterrupted coal supply to meet India’s growing energy demands. During the review, officials presented updates on coal production targets, transportation and dispatch systems, railway connectivity, mine development, and other critical infrastructure initiatives. The progress of ongoing projects aimed at enhancing domestic coal production and strengthening the country’s energy ecosystem was also reviewed. Emphasising the need for timely completion of all ongoing projects, directions were issued to ensure strict adherence to implementation schedules and remove bottlenecks affecting project execution. Officials were instructed to enhance coordination among various ministries, state governments, public sector undertakings, and implementing agencies to facilitate seamless execution of coal-related infrastructure projects.
Special emphasis was laid on adopting sustainable and environmentally responsible mining practices. The meeting highlighted the importance of balancing increased coal production with environmental conservation by promoting scientific mining methods, land reclamation, afforestation, and compliance with environmental regulations.
The review also stressed the need to modernise mining operations through advanced technologies, digital monitoring systems, mechanisation, and improved logistics to enhance productivity and operational efficiency across coal mines.Recognising coal as a vital pillar of India’s power generation and industrial growth, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted coal supply for thermal power plants and key industries. Strengthening domestic coal production is expected to reduce dependence on imports while supporting the country’s long-term energy requirements.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to advancing India’s energy security and accelerating the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) by building a robust, efficient, and sustainable coal sector capable of supporting the nation’s rapid economic growth.
