Mulugu: In a significant development, Maoist State Committee member Kakarlapati Samatha surrendered before the police in Mulugu district, choosing to give up the path of armed violence and return to mainstream civilian life. Following her surrender, the authorities handed over a ₹20 lakh reward cheque to Samatha under the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy.
The rehabilitation initiative is aimed at encouraging members of extremist organisations to abandon violence, surrender their weapons and reintegrate into society by providing appropriate support under the government’s rehabilitation framework.

Speaking on the occasion, Telangana DGP Sri C.V. Anand appealed to the remaining three Maoist cadres to give up violence and surrender before the police.
The DGP urged them to leave the path of armed struggle and return to the mainstream of civilian life, assuring that the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy provides an opportunity for those willing to give up violence and begin a new life.
The surrender of Samatha is being viewed by the authorities as another indication of the impact of the government’s rehabilitation measures and efforts to bring Maoist cadres back into mainstream society.Officials reiterated their appeal to remaining cadres to utilise the available rehabilitation opportunities and choose peace and a normalcivilian life.
