CityLightBuzz: Hyderabad, August 24, 2026: Telangana BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao began a 48-hour hunger strike at the BJP state office in Hyderabad, demanding the immediate release of pending fee reimbursement dues for students across the state.
Under the banner “Fee Dues – BJP’s Fight”, the BJP has demanded the release of ₹15,000 crore in pending fee reimbursement dues, alleging that the delay is severely affecting students and the education system in Telangana.
Ramchander Rao said the BJP had launched the agitation after collecting signatures from around 5 lakh students across educational institutions through the BJYM. He alleged that students are facing difficulties in obtaining their original certificates from colleges because of unpaid fee reimbursement amounts, affecting their higher education and employment opportunities.
The BJP state president criticised the Congress government over the pending dues and alleged that the fee reimbursement backlog has increased substantially in recent years. He also accused the government of failing to fulfil its assurances regarding education funding and student welfare.
According to Ramchander Rao, colleges are also facing financial difficulties due to the pending reimbursements, affecting their ability to pay faculty salaries and provide services to students. He further raised concerns over scholarship payments and the pending stipends of students in courses including AYUSH and Homeopathy.
The BJP leader said the party had earlier collected signatures from students as part of its statewide campaign and would continue its agitation until the fee reimbursement issue is resolved. Several BJP leaders, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, party office-bearers and student representatives extended their support to the hunger strike. Among those present were BJP MP Rekha Sharma, BJP Legislature Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy, Legislative Council floor leader AVN Reddy, MPs Raghunandan Rao and Palvai Harish Babu, MLA Venkataramana Reddy, MLCs Malk Komuraiah and Anjireddy, along with senior BJP leaders and student organisation representatives.Ramchander Rao declared that the BJP’s campaign would continue until the pending fee reimbursement dues are cleared and urged the government to address the concerns of students.“Fee Dues – BJP’s Fight” has emerged as the BJP Telangana unit’s latest campaign focusing on student welfare, fee reimbursement and the education sector.
