BJP Minority Morcha State Executive Meeting Held in Mahbubnagar
CityLightBuzz: Mahbubnagar, BJP Telangana State President N. Ramchander Rao said that the Congress party had treated minorities merely as a vote bank for decades, while the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre has focused on their empowerme nt through welfare, education, employment and development programmes.
Ramchander Rao was the chief guest at the BJP Telangana Minority Morcha State Executive Committee meeting held in Mahbubnagar. BJP Mahbubnagar MP D.K. Aruna, along with several state and district-level leaders, attended the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, Ramchander Rao said India represents “unity in diversity” and that people belonging to different religions and communities have always been united as Indians. He called upon Minority Morcha workers to take the benefits of Central government welfare schemes to people at the grassroots level.
22% to 37% of Welfare Beneficiaries Are Minorities: BJP
Ramchander Rao claimed that minorities account for 22% to 37% of beneficiaries under various Central government welfare schemes, including Mudra, Jan Dhan, Ujjwala and UDAN.
He said the government is also providing scholarships to minority students and encouraging Muslim youth to pursue careers in the UPSC Civil Services, including IAS and IPS, through educational and coaching support.
He said the BJP-led government follows the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas”, stressing that welfare schemes are intended to reach people without discrimination.Congress Accused of Spreading Misinformation Over CAA
The BJP state president strongly criticised the Congress over its campaign against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).He said the CAA was introduced to provide citizenship to persecuted members of Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain and Parsi communities who had migrated to India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
Ramchander Rao referred to the experiences of minorities in the neighbouring countries and cited the example of Jogendra Nath Mandal, Pakistan’s first Law and Justice Minister, who eventually returned to India.
He alleged that the Congress had attempted to give a communal colour to the CAA issue and claimed that such campaigns were aimed at damaging India’s image internationally.
“Vande Mataram Is a Symbol of Patriotism”
Ramchander Rao also spoke about Vande Mataram, describing it as a symbol of patriotism and respect for Bharat Mata.
Recalling the Hyderabad State Liberation Movement against the Nizam’s rule, he said freedom fighters and patriots such as journalist Shoebullah Khan raised patriotic slogans and sacrificed their lives.He alleged that political parties were attempting to oppose or politicise Vande Mataram for vote-bank considerations and appealed to people not to insult the country’s patriotic traditions for political gains. Congress and BRS Failed Minorities in Telangana: BJP
Ramchander Rao alleged that both the Congress and the previous BRS government had failed to adequately address the welfare and development needs of minorities in Telangana.
He claimed that minority educational institutions, residential schools and hostels were facing a shortage of basic facilities. He also alleged that adequate funds had not been allocated for minority development.
At the same time, he said Central initiatives such as Startup India, Stand-Up India, Make in India and Skill Development programmes were creating employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for young people, including those from minority communities.
AIMIM Targeted Over Political Alliances
Ramchander Rao also criticised the AIMIM, alleging that the party had maintained political understandings with different ruling parties over the years.
He claimed that AIMIM had supported the BRS earlier and was now aligned with the Congress for political reasons. He further alleged that such political arrangements had hindered the development of Hyderabad’s Old City.
He said the BJP had consistently raised the demand for better infrastructure and development in the Old City, including the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro network.
Questions Raised Over MLC Controversy
Referring to the recent controversy involving an AIMIM MLC, Ramchander Rao questioned why the Congress and BRS had remained silent on the allegations surrounding the MLC.
He demanded that both parties clarify their position and questioned whether there were any political understandings between the parties.
The allegations referred to by Ramchander Rao remain allegations and should not be treated as established facts unless confirmed through due legal and investigative processes.
Modi Receives Recognition From Islamic Countries: Ramchander Rao
Ramchander Rao said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received recognition and prestigious civilian honours from several Muslim-majority countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Bahrain and Jordan.
He said such recognition demonstrated India’s growing international standing and rejected what he described as opposition parties’ attempts to spread misinformation about the Modi government.
Call to Minority Morcha Workers
Concluding his address, Ramchander Rao called upon BJP Minority Morcha workers to take the achievements and welfare benefits of the Modi government to villages, mandals and households across Telangana.
He expressed confidence that the BJP would emerge as the ruling party in Telangana and urged party workers to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level ahead of the upcoming elections.
