Bengaluru: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called for a shift from conventional “grey growth” to green, circular and regenerative growth in urban development, stressing the need to protect nature while meeting the needs of future generations.
Naidu, along with Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, inaugurated The Earth Centre at Whitefield, Bengaluru. The project integrates nature, technology and a modern work environment, with emphasis on sustainable construction, recycled materials and a stronger connection with nature.
Speaking at the event, Naidu said cities should move away from concrete-heavy development and adopt environment-friendly construction practices. He highlighted the importance of net-zero principles, solar power, water conservation, waste-to-resource practices and greater reuse.
He said climate change is already a present challenge and called for environmental protection to be treated as a collective responsibility. He also stressed that buildings should be designed to use resources efficiently rather than consume them excessively.
Naidu said future buildings should generate clean energy and suggested that rooftops could increasingly be used for solar power generation, while water and waste should be treated as valuable resources.
The Chief Minister also spoke about Andhra Pradesh’s renewable-energy plans and said the state is planning around 165 GW of renewable energy capacity. He said Amaravati is being developed as an environment-friendly city, integrating nature, technology and modern infrastructure for future generations.
Naidu congratulated Raghuveer Veeramachaneni, Praveen Kumar, the Vista Spaces team and representatives of Venkataramanan Associates for designing the project with a focus on sustainability and future environmental needs.
