CityLightBuzz: Hyderabad, August 22, 2026: A celebration of India’s rich handloom and craft heritage, ‘Pink Gulabb – The Heritage Edit’ was inaugurated in Hyderabad by actor, social entrepreneur and environmentalist Amala Akkineni. The two-day curated exhibition, being held on August 21 and 22, showcases India’s diverse heritage weaves, traditional art, hand embroidery, textiles and handcrafted designs, bringing together independent designers, artisans and homegrown labels. The event is being presented at the Crafts Council of Telangana (CCT), Hyderabad.
Speaking at the inauguration, Amala Akkineni appreciated the initiative for creating a platform that connects India’s traditional crafts with contemporary audiences. She highlighted the importance of preserving generations-old craftsmanship while ensuring that artisan communities and their livelihoods continue to thrive.
A Contemporary Platform for Indian Heritage Pink Gulabb was founded and curated by Mohua Chatterjee, who has a longstanding passion for handlooms, textiles and Indian craftsmanship. After 26 years in education, Chatterjee began a new journey focused on creating meaningful platforms for India’s traditional crafts.
The exhibition aims to go beyond a conventional shopping experience by highlighting the stories, skills and traditions behind each handcrafted creation.
The Hyderabad edition features a carefully curated selection of Kantha, Indian silks, regional weaving traditions, hand embroidery and other traditional craft forms.Celebrating Artisans and Craftsmanship
According to the organisers, the initiative focuses on promoting conscious consumption and creating sustainable opportunities for artisans and independent designers.Mohua Chatterjee said the objective of Pink Gulabb is to give India’s heritage a contemporary voice and connect younger generations with the stories and craftsmanship behind traditional handmade products.
