Hyderabad, August 18, 2026: The 376th birth anniversary celebrations of Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud were held grandly at the BJP Telangana State Office.BJP Telangana State President Shri N. Ramchander Rao paid floral tributes to Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud and addressed the gathering. Former Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Malkajgiri MP Shri Eatala Rajender, MLC Shri Malk Komuraiah, BJP State General Secretary Dr. N. Speaking to the media, N. Ramchander Rao described Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud as a great people’s warrior who fought for the rights and self-respect of the weaker and oppressed sections of society.He said Papanna Goud emerged from the Bahujan communities and challenged the ruling system and Mughal dominance of his time. He established his influence over Golconda Fort and built a strong army with thousands of soldiers to fight for the people.
Ramchander Rao said Papanna Goud’s journey from an ordinary family to becoming a ruler remains an inspiration and that his courage, leadership and fight for social justice have earned him a permanent place in Telangana’s history.He noted that Khilasapur in Jangaon district is the birthplace of Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud and said his life, struggles and forts hold a special place in Telangana’s history.
BJP Demands Jangaon District Be Named After Papanna Goud
Ramchander Rao demanded that the Telangana government rename Jangaon district as “Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud Jangaon District.”He alleged that the Congress had promised in its 2023 election manifesto to name Jangaon district after Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud but had failed to implement the promise despite being in power for nearly three years.He also demanded that the government immediately fulfil its promise to install a statue of Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud and establish an appropriate memorial at his birthplace.
BJP Criticises Congress Over Vande Mataram .Ramchander Rao also criticised the Congress party over what he described as its disrespectful approach towards “Vande Mataram.”
He said Vande Mataram played an important role in India’s freedom struggle by inspiring patriotism among the people and stressed that national symbols and patriotic traditions should be respected beyond political differences.
He urged the Congress to put aside vote-bank politics and demonstrate proper respect for national values, national symbols and patriotic traditions.
Bandaru Dattatreya Pays Tribute
Former Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatreya said remembering great leaders like Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud and introducing their contributions to the younger generation is everyone’s responsibility.
He described Papanna Goud’s courage, bravery and fight against injustice and oppression as an inspiration for society. Dattatreya said his resistance against the Mughal Empire and his struggle for the self-respect of weaker sections should be remembered by future generations.
He called for a suitable memorial and statue at Papanna Goud’s birthplace and urged the government to widely promote his life story and struggles.
Dattatreya said the history of great leaders who fought for society and the nation should not be limited to birth anniversary celebrations but should be carried forward as an inspiration for future generations
