CityLightBuzz: BRS Alleges Congress Government Targeting Leaders for Demanding Protection of ₹800 Crore Government Land , The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has strongly criticized the Congress government after an FIR was registered against eight of its leaders for attempting to submit a representation to the Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO), seeking protection of 8 acres of government land in Survey No. 157/1, Secunderabad Cantonment.
According to BRS, the delegation urged the government to preserve the land for public welfare and utilize it for the construction of 6,000 Indiramma houses for economically weaker sections instead of permitting the proposed development of a commercial shopping mall.
The party alleged that the land, valued at nearly ₹800 crore, belongs to the government and should be safeguarded for the benefit of the public. BRS questioned why those demanding the protection of public property and affordable housing are being subjected to criminal proceedings, while alleged attempts to divert the land for commercial purposes continue unchecked.
Based on FIR No. 211/2026, registered at Karkhana Police Station, cases have been booked under Sections 223, 126(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 21/76 of the CP Act against eight BRS leaders, including:
- Manne Krishank – Cantonment Constituency Membership In-charge
- Gajjela Nagesh – Former Corporation Chairman
- Nivedita – Former Cantonment Assembly Candidate
- T.N. Srinivas – Former Bowenpally Market Chairman
- Jakkula Maheshwar Reddy – Former Cantonment Board Member
- Nalini Kiran – Former Cantonment Board Member
- Pandu Yadav – Former Cantonment Board Member
- Shyam Kumar – Former Cantonment Board Member
BRS described the FIR as politically motivated and maintained that its leaders were engaged in a democratic effort to protect valuable public land from being diverted for commercial use.
The party reiterated its commitment to pursuing both legal and democratic means to ensure that Survey No. 157/1 remains government property and is developed for public welfare, particularly for the construction of 6,000 Indiramma houses as promised.
BRS further stated that it will continue to raise the issue until the land is preserved for the benefit of the people and not for private commercial interests.
