In view of possible drought conditions due to the impact of El Niño, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed officials to ensure that Telangana receives its rightful share of water from the Krishna and Godavari rivers. He cautioned that delays in water release by upstream states could create challenges and asked officials to stay alert.
During a high-level review meeting at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat, the Chief Minister assessed preparedness across departments including agriculture, irrigation, health, disaster management, and urban development. He instructed officials to promote crop diversification and encourage cultivation of low water-consuming crops, while also creating awareness among farmers.
He emphasized completing dam repairs on a war footing and assured that necessary funds would be released without delay. The CM also directed officials to proactively engage with neighboring states to secure Telangana’s rightful share of inter-state waters.
Further, he called for comprehensive planning to manage floods, ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply, and strengthen electricity infrastructure during the monsoon. Officials were instructed to respond swiftly during disasters and provide immediate relief to affected people.
