CityLightBuzz: Hyderabad. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy held a review meeting on the Civil Supplies Department at the Bodhi Pavilion, MCR HRD Centre.
The meeting was attended by Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Stephen Ravindra, CMO Principal Secretary Seshadri, and other senior officials.
The Chief Minister directed officials to recover outstanding dues from defaulting rice millers and formulate a clear mechanism for recovering the pending amounts. He instructed that the issue be discussed in the Cabinet Sub-Committee and stressed that recovery of dues should remain the primary objective.|
CM Revanth Reddy said that blackmail by rice millers would not be tolerated. He directed officials to examine the possibility of taking over rice mills that deliberately default and handing them over to women’s self-help groups.
He also instructed officials to make full use of existing warehouses in the market and said that, if necessary, milling responsibilities could be entrusted to women’s groups. As part of a pilot project, warehouses are proposed to be constructed on 50–100 acres in five constituencies, particularly in areas with high paddy production. Funds available under the MGNREGS may also be utilised for warehouse construction.
The Chief Minister further directed the department to appoint a nodal officer for every district to monitor implementation and ensure effective coordination.
