Addressing the escalating parking crisis in major cities should be a priority for global tech leaders, suggested Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy during a high-level meeting with Uber. He proposed that the company explore the establishment of multi-level parking hubs to provide a modern solution to urban congestion.
🔹 A delegation led by Uber Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dara Khosrowshahi met with the Chief Minister at his residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad to discuss the company’s operations. The team provided a comprehensive briefing on Uber’s current business footprint and its strategic goals for the near future.
🔹 During the exchange, Dara Khosrowshahi announced that Uber is expanding its Center of Excellence in Hyderabad, which stands as their first such facility outside the United States. He noted that the center already employs 600 engineers and expressed a keen interest in establishing a corporate office within the Bharat Future City.
🔹 The Chief Minister emphasized that parking has emerged as a significant challenge in India’s major metros and is set to intensify. He advised the Uber leadership to pivot toward developing multi-level parking infrastructure to stay ahead of the country’s evolving urban needs.
🔹 Pointing to the daily struggles of commuters, the Chief Minister highlighted how the lack of parking at Metro stations creates major bottlenecks. He suggested that creating dedicated parking centers integrated with EV charging stations would be a highly effective move, a proposal the Uber team agreed to study extensively.
🔹 The Chief Minister also showcased the vision behind the ambitious Bharat Future City project being developed on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Spanning 30,000 acres, he described it as a world-class destination designed to accommodate 500 of the world’s leading corporations.
🔹 He further explained that the Future City is strategically located just 25 kilometers from the Shamshabad Airport, making it a prime hub for global investment. Following the momentum of the Global Summit held last December, Dara Khosrowshahi confirmed Uber’s intent to build a corporate presence within this landmark development.
🔹 The meeting saw the participation of Uber Chief Business Officer (CBO) Madhu Kannan, Uber India & South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh, Chief Technology Officer Praveen Nippalli Naga, and the CM’s Special Secretary Ajit Reddy.
