The Chief Minister met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at Rail Bhavan in New Delhi and discussed several key railway projects required for Telangana’s development.
High-Speed Rail Corridors
During the meeting, the Chief Minister requested the Centre to speed up the approval process for the proposed Hyderabad–Pune, Hyderabad–Bengaluru and Hyderabad–Chennai high-speed rail corridors.
He explained that the Telangana government had reviewed the proposals received from the Central Government, suggested certain modifications and submitted its recommendations to the Centre.
He clarified that the state government had not yet initiated land acquisition for these three corridors, as the process would begin after the Central Government approves the proposed alignments. He requested the Railway Minister to complete the alignment approval process at the earliest.
Vikarabad–Krishna Railway Line
The Chief Minister also requested immediate approval for the proposed 130-km Vikarabad–Krishna railway line.
He informed the Union Minister that significant limestone deposits had been identified near Tekalkode in Vikarabad district. The state government is planning to develop the region into a cement and textile hub, making railway connectivity important for industrial growth and transportation.
Regional Ring Railway Along RRR
Revanth Reddy proposed developing a Regional Ring Railway along the Regional Ring Road (RRR), which is being constructed over approximately 360 km around Hyderabad.
He stated that coordinating the railway alignment with the RRR would improve connectivity, support economic activity and create substantial employment opportunities.

Dornakal–Gadwal railway line
Kalwakurthy–Macharla railway line
Kacheguda–Jaggayyapeta railway line (250 km)

The Chief Minister also requested the establishment of a prestigious Mega Coaching and Freight Maintenance Depot proposed by South Central Railway (SCR) at Anantharam village near Mahabubabad.
He recalled that the state government had already agreed to hand over 409.1 acres of land required for the project to the Railway Department. He urged the Union Railway Minister to grant the necessary approvals at the earliest.
The proposed facility is expected to strengthen railway maintenance infrastructure and support freight transportation operations in the region.
