Director General (Operations) Anil Kumar handed over a ₹64 lakh insurance cheque to the family of OCTOPUS constable G. Rajinikanth, who is currently undergoing treatment in a semi-conscious condition following a severe road accident during duty.
The cheque was presented during a program held at the OCTOPUS headquarters in Begumpet under the State Bank of India Police Salary Package insurance scheme.
Constable G. Rajinikanth, attached to the 3rd Battalion of Telangana Special Police and serving on deputation in OCTOPUS since January 8, 2025, met with an accident on October 2 while returning from operational duties at the Commando Training Center in Ibrahimpatnam. A motorcyclist reportedly hit him around 11:55 AM, causing severe head injuries.
He was immediately shifted to Kamineni Hospital in LB Nagar, where he underwent skull flap surgery under the supervision of neurosurgeons. Rajinikanth is currently receiving physiotherapy and medical treatment at a rehabilitation center in Banjara Hills.
A case related to the accident was registered at Ibrahimpatnam Police Station under Crime No. 573/2025.
Officials stated that Rajinikanth held an SBI “Police Salary Silver Package” account at the Moinabad branch, which included third-party insurance coverage through Oriental Insurance Company.
After learning about the constable’s condition, DG Operations Dr. Anil Kumar directed officials to expedite the insurance claim process. Under the supervision of OCTOPUS SP (Admin) M. Venkateshwarlu, DSP P. Vijay Kumar and Inspector B. Srinivasa Rao coordinated with bank and insurance officials to complete the claim formalities successfully.
The ₹64 lakh insurance claim sanctioned by Oriental Insurance was handed over to Rajinikanth’s father Komarayya, mother Nagamani, brother Naresh, and sister Sirisha.
Family members became emotional and expressed gratitude to the police department and senior officials for standing by them during the difficult time.
Officials also urged police personnel to be aware of the benefits available under the SBI Police Salary Package, stating that such insurance support provides major financial security to police families during emergencies.
