Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II Project Reviewed; Officials Told to Expedite NOCs

CityLightBuzz:Hyderabad, A high-level review meeting on the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project was held at the Telangana Secretariat on Tuesday, with officials directed to expedite the issuance of necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to ensure the project progresses on schedule.
Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, Metropolitan Area & Urban Development Department, reviewed the progress of the proposed Phase-II expansion with senior officials. He said the state government has intensified efforts to facilitate the timely commencement and smooth execution of the metro expansion project.
Seven Corridors Covering 122.9 km
Officials presented details of the proposed alignment of seven Metro Phase-II corridors, covering a total distance of approximately 122.9 km. The meeting also reviewed existing and upcoming projects of various departments that could have an impact on the proposed metro corridors.
Discussions were held with officials from the National Highways Authority, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Defence Department, municipal corporations, Roads & Buildings Department and other agencies regarding the permissions required for land acquisition, railway crossings, crossing the Musi River near Nagole, water bodies, gas pipelines and construction activities near airport boundaries.
The Hyderabad Metro Rail authorities requested the concerned departments to issue the required NOCs at the earliest to avoid delays and ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
Coordination With Central and State Departments
The meeting was also part of the process of obtaining project clearance from the Network Planning Group under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
HMDA Metropolitan Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed highlighted the growing need for metro connectivity and expansion in Hyderabad and urged the concerned departments to expedite the necessary clearances for the proposed Phase-II corridors.
Senior Officials Attend
The meeting was attended by HMRL Joint Managing Director Shivendra Pratap, commissioners and senior officials from GHMC, CMC, South Central Railway, Defence, Transport, NHAI, Civil Aviation, Department of Telecommunications, TGSPDCL, TGIIC, HMDA, HMTU, Irrigation and Roads & Buildings Department, among others.
The officials discussed inter-departmental coordination and the timely completion of statutory clearances required for the proposed 122.9-km Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II expansion.
