HYDRAA Commissioner A. V. Ranganath emphasized the need to prevent flood risks in the busy IT corridor and avoid traffic disruptions during the monsoon season.

A joint review meeting was held with officials of CMC (Cyberabad Municipal Corporation) under the leadership of Ranganath and CMC Commissioner Srujana. Officials identified 202 waterlogging points in the CMC limits, including 83 major, 95 medium, and 24 minor problem areas. Instructions were issued to resolve these issues within 15 days through inter-departmental coordination.

Priority was given to desilting of stormwater drains, identifying weak trees prone to falling, and mapping manholes clearly. The Commissioner also suggested issuing SMS alerts during heavy rains and guiding commuters on alternative routes.

Additionally, it was proposed to install sluice gates for 30 major lakes, including Durgam Cheruvu, Khajaguda Cheruvu, and Malkam Cheruvu, to regulate floodwater flow. Officials stressed that maintaining lower water levels in lakes would help manage heavy inflows during rains.

Authorities were also instructed to ensure proper functioning of pumps near underpasses and drainage systems on bridges. With forecasts indicating possible heavy rainfall from June 8, departments were directed to stay fully prepared.

CMC officials reported that 98% of desilting work has been completed and identified 161 dilapidated buildings for action. Traffic, irrigation, electricity, and other departments are coordinating efforts to minimize disruptions during the monsoon.
