Strong Steps Towards Economic Progress of Fishermen: Pawan Kalyan Launches Welfare Initiatives in Kakinada

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Pawan Kalyan took major steps towards improving the economic conditions of Uppada coastal fishermen during the Mana Ooru – Mata Manthi programme held in Kakinada.

As part of the 100-day action plan, compensation was provided to fishermen affected by Ammeenabad Harbour design issues. Financial assistance cheques were distributed to owners of 29 damaged boats, while plans were announced for additional ₹80 crore works to permanently address harbour problems.

The government also initiated measures worth over ₹10 crore for subsidised equipment, advanced boat engines, and alternative livelihood opportunities. CSR funds were allocated for skill development, seaweed cultivation, processing units, artificial reefs, fish nurseries, and strengthening Anganwadi centres.These initiatives aim to create sustainable income sources, improve livelihoods, and support the long-term development of fishing communities.
