Actress says the murder mystery offers an interesting role with emotional depth; film set for theatrical release on October 2
Hyderabad: Newcomer actress Dashvika K is making her acting debut with the upcoming Telugu film Tatvam, starring Dinesh Tej and Dashvika K in the lead roles. Directed by Arjun Kola, the film is jointly produced by Sheemakurthi Vamsi Krishna and Shwetha Pasupuleti under the banners of Trayathi Ishani Creations and S.K. Productions.
The film, which is set against a village backdrop, is described as a murder mystery thriller featuring suspense, emotions and an engaging screenplay. Tatvam is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 2.
Ahead of the release, Dashvika K interacted with members of the media and spoke about her debut, character, co-star Dinesh Tej, director Arjun Kola and her future projects.
“I Feel Lucky to Get a Performance-Oriented Role in My First Film”
Speaking about her background, Dashvika said that she hails from Visakhapatnam and that Tatvam marks her first film.
“I got this opportunity while I was trying to enter the film industry as a heroine. I auditioned for Tatvam and was selected. Earlier, I also acted alongside Vijay Deverakonda in a commercial,” she said. Talking about making her debut with Tatvam, she said, “I feel lucky that I got a role with good scope for performance in my very first project. When I heard the story, I found it very interesting. My character has a lot of emotion and is set against a village backdrop.”
“My Character Has Grey Shades”
Dashvika revealed that her character has certain grey shades, but said she did not want to disclose too much before the film’s release.
“My character has grey shades, but she is someone the audience will like. I don’t want to reveal more about the character at this stage,” she said.
Explaining the character further, she said, “She is a soft and supportive girl who stands by the hero. She helps him in the investigation to find the killer. Overall, my character has a positive side.”
“Tatvam Is a Murder Mystery with Suspense”
Speaking about the film, Dashvika said she was happy to be part of a Telugu movie exploring a murder mystery format.
“Films with such stories are generally seen in Malayalam cinema. I am happy that a film with a similar style of storytelling is coming in Telugu as well. The movie will not feel boring. It is a murder mystery and suspense thriller, and the screenplay has all the elements required at the right points,” she said.
She added that her own personality also helped her connect with the character.
“I am personally a little shy, and that helped me understand and perform this role better. The story moves forward in a village backdrop,” she added.
Acting Has Been Her Dream Since Childhood
Dashvika said that acting had been her dream since childhood.
“I have liked acting since I was a child. When I was in third grade, I even told my teacher that I would become an actress. I have always been interested in films and modelling. After completing my studies, I entered the film industry with the support of my parents,” she said.
She also revealed that she underwent acting training under Mahathi Bikshu.
“I Was Nervous Before Entering the Industry”
Recalling her initial thoughts about entering the film industry, Dashvika admitted that she was nervous.
“I was scared and tense before entering the industry because of the things I had heard about it. But I realised that in any profession, we have to learn how to manage situations and grow. In my case, everything has been going smoothly. The industry is not as bad as I had imagined from the outside,” she said.
Praises Dinesh Tej and Director Arjun Kola
Dashvika praised her co-star Dinesh Tej, describing him as very supportive.
“Dinesh is very supportive. He helped me a lot during the action sequences. His character in this film is also very interesting,” she said.
Speaking about director Arjun Kola, she said, “He is a very quiet person and has a lot of clarity. I was surprised to learn that he took three months’ leave from his software job to make this film. His vision and clarity as a director are impressive.”
Music and Background Score Among the Highlights
According to Dashvika, apart from the story and screenplay, the film’s music and background score will be major highlights.
“The story and narration are important, but Chetan Bharadwaj’s music and background score will also stand out,” she said.
“The Title Tatvam Is Different, Just Like the Film”
Speaking about the film’s unusual title, Dashvika said the team initially had some doubts about how audiences would respond to it.
“Tatvam is a very different title. Initially, we were worried whether audiences would like it. But we received positive feedback from everyone. After October 2, people will definitely say that the film is as different as its title,” she said.
Wants to Explore Different Roles
Dashvika said she is interested in experimenting with different kinds of characters, particularly romantic films.
“I want to do all kinds of roles, especially love stories. At the same time, I want to choose characters that give me scope to perform,” she said.
Tamil Film in November
Talking about her upcoming projects, Dashvika revealed that she will begin work on a Tamil film in November. She also said that discussions are underway for a few Telugu projects.
With Tatvam marking her entry into Telugu cinema, Dashvika is looking forward to connecting with audiences when the murder mystery thriller arrives in theatres on October 2
