Hyderabad: In a significant initiative aimed at improving the health and well-being of police personnel, Telangana DGP Sri C.V. Anand, IPS, has initiated steps to extend the FitCop programme to all departments and units of the Telangana Police.
As part of this initiative, the DGP held a meeting with app developers, the technical team and senior police officials to review the health parameters and essential features to be incorporated into the FitCop mobile application. A sponsor has come forward to provide complete financial support for the programme for the next ten years.
The meeting also discussed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the action plan to be implemented following the launch of the application. The programme is targeted to be rolled out within the next 40–45 days.
Under the initiative, health screenings will be conducted for approximately 90,000 Telangana Police personnel. The assessments will cover Body Mass Index (BMI), height, weight, blood pressure and diabetes, with individual health records maintained through the application.
Personnel identified as being at higher health risk will receive medical guidance through a dedicated call centre, where doctors will contact them, provide necessary advice and monitor their health conditions.
The FitCop programme will also focus on mental health care, personalised diet plans, fitness guidance and comprehensive healthcare support.
Speaking about the initiative, DGP C.V. Anand emphasised that the objective is not merely to monitor the health of police personnel but also to encourage them to adopt healthier lifestyles, improve their overall well-being and perform their duties more effectively.
