Let Us Grant Regular Membership to Eligible Senior Film Journalists
Dear Film Journalist Friends, With the Hyderabad Press Club elections behind us, this is the right time to remind ourselves of the commitment made in the election manifesto by Honorary President Giri Vijay Kumar Reddy, General Secretary Ramesh Varikuppala, and Treasurer Ramesh Vaitla to promote all eligible Associate Members to Regular Membership. I sincerely thank them once again for making this promise. Recently, during the Executive Committee meeting, I submitted a representation on this issue in my capacity as an Executive Member. The sole purpose of this representation was to ensure justice for senior film journalists who have rendered outstanding service to the film industry over many years and possess all the required qualifications for Regular Membership.
Film journalists, like journalists from every other beat, play a vital role in informing, analyzing, and entertaining society. Despite their years of experience, seniority, and professional credentials, many of them continue to remain Associate Members. This does not reflect the respect, recognition, or professional dignity they truly deserve. Therefore, on behalf of our fraternity, we respectfully request the newly elected Press Club committee to positively consider the following:
- Promote all eligible senior film journalists to Regular Membership based on their qualifications, experience, and seniority without further delay.
- Extend to film journalists the same rights, including voting rights and membership privileges, that are available to journalists from other categories.
- Ensure that no discrimination is shown toward film journalists in the future and adopt policies that protect their professional identity, recognition, and dignity.
I am confident that the new committee will examine this issue with a positive approach and ensure justice for all eligible film journalists. With our collective unity and mutual support, I hope this fair and legitimate demand will soon become a reality.
Sincerely,
Dayyala Ashok
Executive Member, Hyderabad Press Club
