CityLightBuzz: New Delhi. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy called for strict punishment for those responsible for question paper leaks and stressed the need for greater transparency and accountability in the examination system.
Speaking to the media after meeting Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister said problems are more likely to arise in offline examinations and called for a nationwide policy to regulate coaching centres, which he alleged are emerging without proper permissions and can become platforms for examination-related irregularities.
Revanth Reddy said the Telangana Public Service Commission was restructured on the lines of the UPSC to ensure transparent recruitment examinations and protect students’ interests. He also alleged that previous inaction against organisations involved in irregularities allowed such practices to expand to other examinations, including CBSE exams.
On fee reimbursement, the Chief Minister said the previous KCR government left around ₹8,000 crore in pending dues. He said the state government is conducting Vigilance and Enforcement investigations against institutions allegedly involved in irregularities and assured that genuine pending dues would be cleared. He added that the government plans to ensure that fee reimbursement for each academic year is paid within the same year in the future.
Discussing HYDRA, Revanth Reddy defended the organisation’s actions to protect lakes, ponds, nalas, government lands and public parks. He said HYDRA is one of the major reforms introduced by his government and asserted that its work would continue in the future.
The Chief Minister also criticised alleged encroachers for approaching courts and attempting to obstruct action through legal proceedings. He said the government respects the judiciary and will comply with court directions while continuing efforts to protect public assets.
Revanth Reddy further said the government remains committed to resolving issues related to Indiramma housing and employment schemes and has requested Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to undertake a field visit to Telangana to review the situation.
