Grand Farewell Ceremony for 43 Retiring Police Officers – Retirement Benefits Handed Over

Hyderabad: A grand farewell and felicitation programme was organized on Tuesday (30.06.2026) in honour of 43 police officers who retired today due to attaining the age of superannuation, after rendering distinguished services for a long period under the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate.
On behalf of Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Shri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, Additional CP (Law & Order) Shri Tafseer Iqbal, IPS attended the programme as the chief guest and felicitated the retiring officers.

The retiring officers were honoured with shawls and mementos, recognizing their dedicated services of around 42 years to the Police Department. Additional CP Shri Tafseer Iqbal stated that these officers witnessed the transformation of the police department — from the days of patrolling on bicycles to the present era of patrolling in Innova vehicles. Their commitment and hard work played a major role in bringing Telangana Police national recognition. He also advised the retirees to be cautious regarding their retirement funds and avoid falling prey to frauds in the lure of high interest rates, suggesting deposits only in government-recognized institutions.

Shri B. Anand, Additional DCP (Khairatabad Zone):
He said retirement is not an end but a new beginning. Recalling the example of Colonel Sanders, who started KFC at the age of 60, he encouraged officers to pursue their interests, focus on health, and spend quality time with their families.

Smt. K. Venkat Lakshmi, DCP (Administration):
She stated that the present generation of policing has become easier because of the dedication and hard work of officers who served for more than four decades during challenging times. She highlighted the sacrifices of family members behind every officer’s success and advised retirees to take special care of their elderly parents’ health.

Shri Tafseer Iqbal, IPS (Additional CP – Law & Order):
He said that the reason officers remain fit even after handling the pressures of police service is the support of their families. Quoting “Once a policeman, always a policeman,” he urged them to respect their legacy and, after leaving the uniform behind, spend their future happily with their families.

• Retirement benefits were distributed to the officers on behalf of City Police Co-operative Credit Society Limited. Among those who retired were Shri B. Anand (Additional DCP, Khairatabad Zone), Shri G. Venkateswara Reddy (ACP, CCS DD), Shri P. Shiva Bhaskar (ACP, SB), along with one Superintendent, 12 Sub-Inspectors, 18 ASI/RSIs, 5 Head Constables, 2 Police Constables, and 2 L.G.Es — a total of 43 personnel.

It was also notable that special government vehicles were arranged to drop the retired officers safely at their residences after completion of their service.
