CityLightBuzz: New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor in New Delhi and discussed strengthening cooperation between Telangana and the United States in the areas of education, employment, investments, technology, research, and innovation.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister requested the U.S. Ambassador to increase the number of student visas for Telangana students pursuing higher education in the United States. He also urged the U.S. administration to ensure timely visa appointments, increase visa interview slots, and expedite the processing of visa applications.
Revanth Reddy also highlighted the issues faced by professionals from Telangana working in the United States. He requested the Ambassador to simplify and speed up H-1B visa processing, renewals, and visa stamping, while also ensuring that any changes to U.S. visa regulations are communicated well in advance.
The Chief Minister discussed the safety and welfare of Telangana students studying in the U.S., emphasizing the need for continued support and cooperation.
Highlighting Telangana’s investment potential, Revanth Reddy said the state offers vast opportunities for American companies in sectors such as Information Technology (IT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Startups, Research, and Advanced Technologies.
He also urged greater collaboration between U.S. universities and educational institutions in Telangana, proposing expanded partnerships in student exchange programmes, research, innovation, and skill development.
The Chief Minister noted that Telugu is one of the fastest-growing Indian languages in the United States and appreciated Ambassador Sergio Gor’s knowledge of India’s history and culture.
He also welcomed the Ambassador’s interest in Telangana’s culture, traditions, cuisine, and economic strengths.
Responding positively, U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gor assured the Chief Minister of full support in further strengthening trade, investment, educational collaboration, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people ties between Telangana and the United States.
