Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu held a review meeting with senior officials at Praja Bhavan on the functioning of the SC & ST Welfare Department.
During the meeting, he reviewed various issues related to the welfare of SC and ST communities, including education, management of Gurukul schools, scholarships, study circles and self-employment opportunities.
Key directions issued by the Deputy CM:
The government is committed to providing the necessary funds for the development of education among SC and ST communities.
Officials were directed to take steps to provide self-employment financial assistance of up to ₹1 lakh in the first phase under the ‘Rajiv Yuva Vikasam’ scheme from November 19.
The establishment of centralised mechanised kitchens in SC Gurukul institutions should be expedited to ensure students
receive quality, hygienic and nutritious food.
A comprehensive study should be undertaken on the educational, social and economic status of former Gurukul students.Quality coaching should be provided through Study Circles to achieve better results.
Officials were asked to examine the introduction of new courses in SC degree colleges in line with industry requirements.
Bhatti Vikramarka said that under the Indiramma Rajyam, the government’s primary objective is to ensure the welfare of poor and weaker sections, promote educational development and create self-employment opportunities for youth.
Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman and senior officials attended the meeting.
