CityLightBuzz: Hyderabad. HYDRA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath on Wednesday conducted a field inspection of lake development works at IDL Lake in Kukatpally and Thammidikunta Lake in Madhapur, accompanied by local MLAs Madhavaram Krishna Rao and Arikepudi Gandhi, along with leaders from various political parties.
During the inspection of IDL Lake, MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao requested that necessary arrangements be made for the upcoming Ganesh Immersion Festival despite the ongoing lake development works. Responding positively, Commissioner A.V. Ranganath assured that temporary immersion facilities would be provided this year and that the lake would be fully developed before next year’s festival.
The Commissioner said special arrangements would be made to accommodate the increasing number of Ganesh idols every year. He also announced plans to develop an attractive mini immersion pond along the main road for devotees. Nearly three metres of silt will be removed from the lake to enhance its water storage capacity.
Later, the Commissioner inspected Thammidikunta Lake in Madhapur along with MLA Arikepudi Gandhi and directed officials to complete the remaining works and make the lake ready for inauguration at the earliest.
He reviewed the main entrance gates being constructed on both sides of the lake and emphasized strengthening the lake’s drainage outlets to ensure smooth inflow and outflow of water, especially during heavy rains from the Kondapur–Madhapur IT Corridor.
The Commissioner also instructed officials to develop green landscapes, walking spaces, and children’s play areas around the lake to create a pleasant recreational environment for the public.
HYDRA Additional Commissioner D. Anand, ACP P. Tirumala, and officials from the Irrigation and Municipal Departments were also present during the inspection.
