NTR’s Ideals Will Continue to Inspire Future Generations: Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao

CityLightBuzz: Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said that legendary leader and former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) will remain a timeless inspiration for the Telugu people and that his ideals will continue to guide future generations.

Speaking at the 4th Anniversary celebrations of the NTR Literature Committee held at the Film Nagar Cultural Centre in Hyderabad on Saturday, Tummala recalled that he entered politics under the inspiration and encouragement of NTR. He described NTR as a visionary leader who empowered the poor, backward classes, weaker sections, and politically marginalized communities through his leadership and welfare-oriented governance. The minister praised the NTR Literature Committee, led by T.D. Janardhan, for its dedicated efforts to preserve and promote NTR’s legacy across the globe. He said the committee’s initiatives would ensure that the history, values, and ideals of the legendary leader continue to inspire generations of Telugu people. Former Telangana Assembly Speaker M. Madhusudhana Chary said NTR transformed the political landscape by providing representation to communities that had long remained outside the corridors of power. Regardless of political differences, he said, NTR continues to hold a special place in the hearts of people for understanding the struggles of ordinary citizens and empowering neglected sections of society. The event was attended by several eminent personalities, including Nandamuri Ramakrishna, K. Srinivas Reddy, Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan, K.S. Rama Rao, T. Prasanna Kumar, Bhagiratha, Vikram Poola, Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao, Kaikala Nageswara Rao, Mothkupalli Narasimhulu, Gummadi Gopalakrishna, Professor Venkatrao, and other distinguished guests.

During the programme, the committee showcased its publications, including Yugapurushudu, Shakapurushudu, Tarakaramam, and Sajeeva Charitra. Producer Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao was felicitated for acquiring NTR’s former residence in Chennai and converting it into a museum dedicated to preserving the legendary leader’s legacy. Addressing the gathering, Committee Chairman T.D. Janardhan said the organization was established during NTR’s birth centenary with the objective of digitally documenting his life and achievements. Over the past four years, the committee has published books, released daily digital content, and organized programmes across India and abroad, receiving an overwhelming response from Telugu communities worldwide. Telangana Press Academy Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy described NTR’s political journey as one of the most remarkable chapters in Indian political history, noting that even his political opponents admired his leadership and oratory. Lok Satta founder Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan said NTR brought national recognition to Telugu language, culture, and identity through his visionary leadership. Former minister Mothkupalli Narasimhulu credited NTR with shaping his political career, while producer T. Prasanna Kumar hailed him as a legendary actor who elevated Telugu cinema to global recognition before dedicating himself entirely to public service. Nandamuri Ramakrishna appreciated the committee’s efforts in preserving his father’s legacy and expressed confidence that its work would continue for years to come. The programme also featured addresses by Kaikala Nageswara Rao and Vikram Poola, Chairman of the Telugu Official Language Commission. Committee members felicitated T.D. Janardhan, Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, producer Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao, producer D.V.K. Raju, and Dr. R. Devanna, who is translating Shakapurushudu into Kannada. The event was compered by Gummadi Gopalakrishna and Kalaratna Bhagiratha, while Doppalapudi Ram Mohan Rao delivered the vote of thanks.
