CityLightBuzz: Thiruvananthapuram/New Delhi: The All India Dalit Christian Rights Protection Committee (AIDCRPC) has invited Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan to attend a nationwide “Maha Dharna” scheduled for August 10, 2026, at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, demanding constitutional rights for Dalit, Dalit Christian, and Christian communities.
The delegation, led by Dr. S. Joel Richardson, National Working President of AIDCRPC, along with Founder National President Sangati Chinna Yosepu, National Vice President Bandi Nelson Vijay Kumar, and Honorary National President Sangati Manohar Mahajan, met the Kerala Chief Minister at the State Secretariat and personally extended the invitation.
The proposed protest marks the anniversary of the 10 August 1950 Presidential Order, which AIDCRPC alleges continues to deny constitutional rights and equal treatment to Dalit Christians on the basis of religion. The organisation has called for the repeal of discriminatory provisions and the restoration of constitutional protections.
According to the delegation, the Chief Minister carefully read the invitation, sought clarifications on several issues, and assured them that he would make every effort to attend the event. He also instructed his office to remind him about the programme. The delegation appreciated the Chief Minister’s courteous interaction and described it as an example of democratic leadership.
AIDCRPC stated that the August 10 protest aims to bring together people from different communities, religions, and democratic organisations to demand justice and equal constitutional rights. The organisation also appealed to Chief Ministers, opposition leaders, and political parties across South India to support the movement and contribute towards resolving the long-pending issue.
