BRS Moves Privilege Notice Against CM Revanth Reddy Over KCR Land Remarks

FLASH NEWS POLITICAL

CityLightBuzz: HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 18, 2026: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Legislature Party has submitted a breach of privilege notice against Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alleging that he provided incorrect information to the Legislative Assembly and attempted to mislead the House while making statements about the land holdings of former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).
BRS MLAs T. Padma Rao Goud and Gangula Kamalakar met Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and submitted the notice. According to the notice, the allegations relate primarily to statements made by the Chief Minister during the Assembly discussion on Section 22-A prohibited lands on September 16.
BRS alleges incorrect information
The BRS Legislature Party alleged that the Chief Minister made several statements concerning KCR’s farmhouse at Erravalli in Siddipet district, including an allegation that around 330 acres of assigned land were part of the property.
The BRS leaders described this allegation as false and said that the Chief Minister had made unsubstantiated claims against the former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition on the floor of the House. They argued that making incorrect information available to the Assembly amounts to a breach of privilege.
Background to the land controversy
The dispute follows a detailed Assembly discussion over Section 22-A of the Registration Act, under which certain lands are placed on the prohibited list.
During the discussion, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy ordered Revenue Department officials to conduct an inquiry into the land associated with KCR’s farmhouse at Erravalli. Reports said the government was asked to determine the extent of private and government land involved and submit findings within 30 days.
Revanth Reddy alleged that government land was included in the larger area associated with the farmhouse and questioned the legality and extent of the landholding. The Chief Minister directed officials to issue notices and conduct a fact-finding exercise. These are allegations and are subject to the government-ordered inquiry.
BRS demands action by Speaker
In their privilege notice, Padma Rao Goud and Gangula Kamalakar reportedly requested the Speaker to examine the statements made by the Chief Minister and take appropriate action under the Assembly’s rules.
The BRS leaders also alleged that the remarks were politically motivated and linked the controversy to the wider dispute over lands placed on the 22-A prohibited list. The party has maintained that the Chief Minister’s statements regarding KCR’s lands were factually incorrect.
The latest development adds another dimension to the ongoing political dispute between the ruling Congress and the BRS over land records, government land and alleged irregularities under the previous BRS government and the present administration.
Separately, BRS leaders have called for an independent inquiry into land transactions and assets of political leaders from both sides, while the government has maintained its position that the allegations concerning government land should be investigated.
