CityLightBuzz: Hyderabad, BJP Legislature Party (BJLP) Floor Leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy has demanded a CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation into what he alleged was large-scale corruption, land transactions and a “Joint Venture (JV) Loot” involving the Congress and BRS.
Addressing a media conference at the BJP Telangana state office, Maheshwar Reddy alleged that large-scale irregularities were taking place in Telangana under the Congress government. He cited the recent remarks and apology by Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy as evidence of serious issues surrounding land transactions.
He alleged that land worth thousands of crores had been placed in the 22A prohibited list, leading to alleged irregularities and transactions. He demanded that the state government release a white paper on the prohibited lands and order a comprehensive investigation or a CBI probe.
Alleged Quid Pro Quo Between Raghava and Phoenix
Maheshwar Reddy further alleged a major quid pro quo between companies associated with Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s Raghava group and Phoenix, which he claimed had links with the previous BRS regime.
He alleged that after Ponguleti became a minister, industrial lands belonging to TGIIC in areas including Nanakramguda, Puppalaguda, Narsingi, Kokapet and HITEC City were allegedly converted into residential zones, resulting in the transfer of assets worth around ₹15,000 crore.
Maheshwar Reddy questioned why Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who had earlier demanded CBI and ED investigations and a forensic audit into Phoenix-related matters, had allegedly not pursued the issue after coming to power.
Questions Over Palamuru-Rangareddy Project
The BJP leader also questioned the alleged revision of the Palamuru-Rangareddy project contract from around ₹1,400 crore to ₹4,300 crore, asking whether such a development constituted a conflict of interest.
He demanded a detailed investigation into the alleged land transactions, asset transfers and financial dealings involving the Congress and BRS.
Challenges Ponguleti to Open Debate
Maheshwar Reddy challenged Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy to a public discussion on the allegations.
He said he would be available at the Assembly Media Point from 12 noon to 2 PM the following day, along with documents and evidence, and called upon the minister to participate in the discussion.
He further stated that the BJP would submit documents relating to the alleged irregularities to the ED, CBI and Lokayukta, and would also write an open letter to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Maheshwar Reddy also criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his foreign tours, alleging that the government was neglecting key issues facing the state.
He concluded that the BJP would continue its fight on behalf of the people of Telangana against what it described as the alleged Congress-BRS nexus and corruption.
