Hyderabad, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu called upon the banking and financial sectors to play a crucial role in achieving the state’s ambitious economic growth targets of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
The Deputy Chief Minister was the chief guest at the 50th State-Level Bankers’ Meeting held at Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad.
Addressing the meeting, Bhatti Vikramarka urged banks to adopt a farmer-centric approach and reach out to farmers instead of making them repeatedly visit bank branches for agricultural loans. He stressed that every eligible farmer should receive timely credit and that lending policies should focus not only on providing loans but also on increasing farmers’ incomes.
Focus on Agriculture, MSMEs and Startups
The Deputy Chief Minister called for the preparation of a “Telangana Rising 2047 Banking Roadmap”, with special focus on agriculture, MSMEs, startups, women entrepreneurs, rural industries, youth employment, green and climate finance, and digital financial inclusion.
He said the banking sector must actively support emerging economic opportunities and contribute to inclusive growth across the state.
Special Banking Strategies for Different Regions
Bhatti Vikramarka also suggested developing specialised banking strategies based on the requirements of CORE, PURE and RARE regions, ensuring that financial services reach every section of society.
He emphasised that banks should become strong development partners in Telangana’s economic transformation and contribute significantly to the state’s long-term vision.The meeting discussed strengthening credit flow, supporting entrepreneurs and farmers, expanding financial inclusion and aligning the banking sector with the state’s broader development goals.
