CityLightBuzz: Hyderabad, September 5: The Telangana State BJP unit organized a “Maha Deeksha” at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park on Friday, opposing the inclusion of farmers’ lands and private properties in the prohibited list under Bhu Bharathi Section 22A.
The BJP demanded an immediate judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court judge into alleged irregularities and the difficulties faced by farmers, middle-class families and other property owners across Telangana.
The protest was organized under the leadership of BJP Legislative Party Leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy and witnessed the participation of senior BJP leaders, including Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy.
N. Ramchander Rao Criticizes Congress Government
Addressing the gathering, BJP Telangana State President N. Ramchander Rao alleged that the implementation of Bhu Bharathi and Section 22A restrictions has caused severe hardship to farmers and the public.
He alleged that while the previous BRS government faced criticism over irregularities under the Dharani land management system, the Congress government had promised to correct those issues through Bhu Bharathi but was allegedly creating greater difficulties for people.
Rao also made allegations regarding commissions being demanded for removing properties from the prohibited list. He claimed that while the previous government allegedly collected commissions for such changes, the current government was allegedly demanding higher amounts.
BJP Demands Judicial Inquiry
Rao expressed concern that private properties, including houses constructed by middle-class families and agricultural lands belonging to farmers, were being included in the 22A prohibited list.
He alleged that private patta lands were being classified as government or Waqf Board lands and that entire survey numbers were sometimes being included in the prohibited list despite disputes involving only portions of those lands.
The BJP state president demanded that a sitting High Court judge conduct a judicial inquiry into the alleged irregularities and identify those responsible.
Claim of Widespread Public Hardship
Rao alleged that the revenue administration had failed to adequately address the grievances of affected farmers and property owners. He claimed that nearly 50 lakh people across Telangana were facing difficulties because they were unable to sell their properties or obtain bank loans for purposes such as education and marriages.
Emphasizing the importance of property rights, Rao said that citizens’ rights over their property are constitutional and human rights and accused the state government of failing to protect them.
BJP Warns of Continued Agitation
Rao said the BJP would continue its agitation from the streets to the Assembly until the lands of farmers and citizens that were allegedly wrongly placed in the 22A prohibited list are removed.
He also criticized the state government over the duration of the Assembly session and alleged that the government was avoiding questions from the Opposition and restricting democratic protests.
Senior BJP Leaders Participate
The Maha Deeksha witnessed the participation of several senior BJP leaders, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and party functionaries.
Those present included BJP Legislative Council Party Leader A.V.N. Reddy, MPs Eatala Rajender, D.K. Aruna, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Raghunandan Rao and Godam Nagesh, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. K. Laxman, former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, MLAs Katipalli Venkata Ramana Reddy, Paidi Rakesh Reddy and Rama Rao Patel, MLC Komuraiah, State General Secretaries Vemula Ashok, Dr. Gautham Rao and Veerender Goud, along with BJP chief spokesperson and media in-charge N. V. Subhash.
Kisan Morcha President Basva Lakshmi Narasiah, former MLAs, former MLCs, other BJP leaders and several affected property owners and farmers also participated in the protest.
The BJP reiterated that it would intensify its campaign against the alleged irregularities in the implementation of Bhu Bharathi and Section 22A and continue to raise the issue at both the public and legislative levels.
