CityLightBuzz: Mahabubnagar: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that the state government is likely to share good news soon regarding the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project. He said the government is working to secure approvals from the Central Government and the Government of Andhra Pradesh for the utilization of 90 TMC of water under the project. He also stated that consultations are underway regarding the allocation of 30 TMC of water for the Dindi Project. The Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating and inspecting the Customer Qualification Plant (CQP) manufacturing unit established by the Amara Raja Group at its Giga Corridor in Divitipally, Mahabubnagar district. Addressing the gathering, Revanth Reddy said the Telangana Government is holding discussions with the neighbouring state to resolve issues and complete key irrigation projects in the Krishna river basin, including the Dindi, Palamuru–Rangareddy, Kalwakurthy, Bhima, Nettempadu, Koilsagar, and Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS) projects.
He assured that his government would obtain all necessary approvals and complete these projects to make Mahabubnagar district agriculturally prosperous. Calling himself a son of Palamuru, he said he is committed to transforming one of Telangana’s most backward districts into a model district of development. The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s focus on education, irrigation, and industrial development, stating that Young India Integrated Residential Schools, engineering colleges, IIITs, and Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) are being established across the district. He said the government has retained and strengthened investment-friendly policies introduced by previous administrations wherever they served the public interest and has adopted the Telangana Rising 2047 Vision to attract investments. He noted that new policies have been introduced in the tourism, energy, medical, and sports sectors, and urged the Amara Raja Group to become a partner in Telangana’s growth journey.
Revanth Reddy acknowledged the contribution of farmers who had given their land for industrial development and appealed to industries to prioritize employment opportunities for local youth. He also urged companies to build strong relationships with local communities. Speaking about climate change, the Chief Minister said El Niño has adversely affected farmers and stressed the need to reduce pollution by promoting electric vehicles (EVs). He welcomed the establishment of the 32 GWh EV battery manufacturing facility by Amara Raja and appreciated the fact that 400 of the company’s 700 employees are women, calling it a matter of pride. He congratulated the Amara Raja Group for setting up the new manufacturing unit in Mahabubnagar and creating employment opportunities for local youth. He noted that after nearly 40 years of operations in Chittoor, the company’s decision to establish a major facility in Telangana reflects confidence in the state’s industrial ecosystem. Praising the company, the Chief Minister said Amara Raja has emerged as a globally competitive enterprise capable of competing with industries in China, Japan, Germany, and South Korea in the EV battery sector. He emphasized that while China currently dominates the global EV supply chain, India must encourage companies like Amara Raja to strengthen the country’s self-reliance and global competitiveness.
