CityLightBuzz: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the State Government is committed to transforming the education system by ensuring that students shift towards skill-based learning after completing education from Nursery to Class 12, preparing them for global employment opportunities. The Chief Minister was speaking at an interaction with teachers who recently returned from an educational study tour to Finland and Germany under the “Teacher International Exposure Visit and Educational Exchange” programme. The event was held at the MCR HRD Institute’s Dasarathi Auditorium in Hyderabad. Addressing the teachers, the Chief Minister said students should have a comprehensive understanding of the world by the time they complete Class 12. He urged teachers to play a key role in shaping future generations and assured them that the government would take full responsibility for resolving their service-related issues, including transfers and promotions.
He called upon teachers to work with dedication over the next five years to make Telangana a national model in education, adding that government schools should be developed to international standards. He asked teachers to submit a comprehensive roadmap by December for improving the education system from the next academic year, with every mandal functioning as an educational cluster.
Revanth Reddy stressed that education, discipline and skill development are essential for students to succeed in life. He highlighted that the government had completed the recruitment of 11,000 teachers through the DSC within just 55 days, promoted around 23,000 teachers, and transferred over 30,000 teachers, ending a long wait of nearly 14 years.
The Chief Minister also urged teachers’ associations to focus on issues concerning students rather than only employee-related matters. He said the government aims to completely reform the education system over the next five years.
Speaking about global employment trends, Revanth Reddy said India has traditionally focused on opportunities in the United States, but it is now time to look towards countries such as Germany, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and China, where there is strong demand for skilled professionals. He said blue-collar and technical skills would play a vital role in future employment and that even basic language proficiency combined with technical skills can secure high-paying jobs abroad.He emphasized that while welfare schemes such as housing, pensions, ration cards and land distribution are necessary, the real transformation comes when education empowers individuals to become self-reliant. He described teachers as the driving force behind creating doctors, engineers, skilled professionals and future leaders.Highlighting the government’s investment in education, the Chief Minister said Telangana allocates around 9% of its State Budget to education. With nearly 27.5 lakh students studying in government institutions, the government spends approximately ₹1.08 lakh per student annually, making quality education a top priority.
He noted that admissions in government schools have increased significantly over the past three years, with over one lakh new admissions recorded this academic year. He attributed the improvement to the government’s focused reforms, including the introduction of Nursery, LKG and UKG in government schools and the implementation of a breakfast programme from Nursery to Class 12.
Before the meeting, the Chief Minister visited a photo exhibition showcasing the experiences of teachers who participated in the Finland and Germany educational tour. Government Adviser K. Keshava Rao and senior officials also attended the programme.
