CityLightBuzz: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed officials to ensure that the Indiramma houses being built in Hyderabad’s CURE area are located within residential neighborhoods. He also asked them to identify unused land belonging to various departments inside the Outer Ring Road. He reviewed the Indiramma housing plan for the Core Urban Region with ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, along with senior officials from different departments. Officials briefed him on the land already identified in several constituencies. The chief minister ordered that unused land belonging to the police, revenue, and transport departments be taken for the project, while alternative land should be allotted to those departments elsewhere.
He said that if Indiramma houses are allotted far from residential areas, beneficiaries may face difficulties in finding jobs and livelihoods, and the houses may remain unused. He stressed that the houses should be built close to workplaces and within inhabited areas so that poor families do not lose their means of living. The government has announced Indiramma houses for the poor in several constituencies under the CURE area. Each flat will have a built-up area of about 528 square feet and a carpet area of 400 square feet.
The construction of each house will cost around Rs. 11 lakh, of which the government will provide a subsidy of Rs. 5 lakh. The remaining Rs. 6 lakh has to be paid by the beneficiary. The government will bear the entire cost of the land.
In the first phase, the government is preparing plans to construct and hand over 7,680 flats in 17 constituencies. The constituencies include Rajendranagar, Maheshwaram, Serilingampally, Ibrahimpatnam, Malkajgiri, Nampally, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Karwan, Bahadurpura, Amberpet, Kukatpally, Medchal, Quthbullapur, Sanathnagar, Secunderabad Cantonment, and Malakpet.
The chief minister directed officials to speed up the process of identifying unused government land within these constituencies.
