CityLightBuzz: Rampachodavaram, Tribal women said that the Andhra Pradesh Government’s ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ scheme has significantly reduced the financial burden of educating their children by providing financial assistance for every student. They expressed that the scheme has become a major support for their children’s education.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister for Education Nara Lokesh participated in the Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) organized by the State Government at the Government High School in Rampachodavaram, Polavaram district, on Friday. The leaders were accorded a traditional welcome by tribal women upon their arrival.
The Chief Minister and the Education Minister paid floral tributes to the statue of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju and offered prayers to Goddess Saraswati before inaugurating the programme.
Interaction with ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ Beneficiaries
During an interactive session with beneficiaries of the ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ scheme, tribal women informed the Chief Minister that government schools have witnessed remarkable improvements in infrastructure, teaching standards, and the overall learning environment. They appreciated the provision of hygienic and nutritious mid-day meals, stating that the quality of education has improved significantly.
The women also highlighted the benefits of the Stree Shakti initiative, under which free bus travel has enabled them to travel to nearby towns for small businesses and livelihood activities, thereby strengthening their economic independence.
Education Minister Nara Lokesh informed the Chief Minister that, based on requests from Anganwadi workers, the ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ scheme has also been extended to Anganwadi beneficiaries. At the end of the programme, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh interacted warmly with the tribal women and posed for selfies, making the event a memorable occasion for the beneficiaries.
