CityLightBuzz: Hyderabad, The controversy over lands included in the 22A prohibited property list has intensified in Telangana, with BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao strongly criticising the state government over the issue.
Harish Rao participated in a meeting with families affected by the 22A land issue at M.J. Gardens in Shapur Nagar, Quthbullapur constituency, and personally heard their grievances. He assured the affected families that the BRS would stand by them and continue to fight for their rights.
Harish Rao alleged that several private properties, including decades-old patta lands, were wrongly included in the 22A prohibited list. He questioned why ordinary citizens should be forced to visit government offices repeatedly to correct what he described as an administrative error.
He alleged that victims were facing difficulties in getting their properties removed from the prohibited list and claimed that allegations of commission demands and involvement of middlemen were emerging. He demanded a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.
Harish Rao also questioned the government over claims that 98 per cent of the affected lands had already been removed from the 22A list. He asked why hundreds of victims were still approaching political leaders with complaints if the issue had been resolved to such a large extent.
The former minister alleged that the issue was not confined to Hyderabad and claimed that agricultural lands in several districts had also been included in the prohibited list. He said such restrictions could create difficulties for farmers in accessing government benefits and essential services.
Harish Rao further alleged that lands in several old residential colonies had been included in the 22A list despite the properties having existed for decades. He called for an investigation into who ordered the inclusion of these properties and why such decisions were taken.
He demanded that the government immediately appoint a sitting judge to investigate the 22A land issue and release a white paper detailing the number of properties included in the prohibited list, the reasons for their inclusion and the subsequent corrections.
